Joseph SAPNEY lived in the Angelica District of Allegany County per the 1820
Fed Cen

Joseph LUFFREY (from the 1830 Fed Cen index) lived in Angelica District
Allegany Co. However, the actual census record it is Joseph SAFF?EY or
SAPP?EY.

The 1840 Census does not show Joseph SAPNEY or LUFFREY but it does have an
Elizabeth SAPNEY.

My question: How can I establish this is the same family in all three
censuses?

This may help me establish an estimated date of death for Joseph SAPNEY.
