An event of interest to a large circle of friends was the marriage of Miss
Margaret Strong Munger youngest daughter of Mrs Charles Munger, to Mr Howard
Babcock Drake of Friendship eldest son of Mr and Mrs B F Drake at the home of
the brides mother in Knoxboro Sep 6th 1916. The attendents were Miss Nina Grace
Barrows of Syracuse, a classmate of the bride as maid of honor and Mr Milton
Carey Drake brother of the groom as best man.

The studebaker car driven by Claude Pettit and carrying besides his wife,
daughter, and young son with his father and mother, Mr and Mrs Charles Pettit
performed some stunts Saturday afternoon Sep 2 at Black Creek. Nearing the
railroad crossing,Mr Pettit put on speed to cross the tracks and got over safely
but the car got out of control plunged down the bank some sixteen feet
striking the corner of the bridge about two rods below tearing away a wire fence and
turning turtle landed in the creek which at that point was deep enough to
entirely emerse the car the bottom of which alone showed above the surface. The
whole party were thus imprisioned in the waters below. The crew of the freight
train came to the rescue and all six managed to scramble out.
