Hi Frank,
Nice for old Brooklynites to recall "old times". Tell your wife that I
remember an ice cream parlor called Meyer and Blum on about 78 Street and 5
Ave. It too was a real old fashioned place with small round tables and "ice
cream" chairs. There was Holstein's Ice Cream Parlor on 76 Street and 5 Ave.
and Hinch's on 86 Street, a great teenage hangout. If it sounds like I made
the rounds of these establishments, you're right! Are you doing genealogy in
Brooklyn? A lot of my family from the 1800's comes from thr Red Hook section
and more recently Bay Ridge. Thanks for reminding me of other times.
