Hello to everyone:

I'm writing to ask for help in a situation that I don't quite
understand. My uncle, Edward was born in a hospital in Brooklyn in the
year 1917. He then left this country and went back with a brother and a
mom and dad. Then during WW2 in Poland, he was caught throwing rocks at
the German tanks and was taken to a camp and never seen again. He died
in that camp at the age of 24 - in the year 1940. The reason I am
writing this is that I wrote away to the NY Department of Health for the
record with a check for 15.00, and the check came back with a letter
that said that they could not process my request based on geonology
alone, and that I would have to provide to them a death certificate and
possibly a letter from someone close in his family verifying the need
for this document. Now (sorry that this letter drags on, hope your not
bored) the big problem is the he was killed by the Nazis and all records
were destroyed, and we cannot get them. HELP! Is there any way I can
get a copy that any of you know of? Sorry about the long letter, but it
is a dilemna to me. Any suggestions, clarifaction would be truly
appreciated.
Myra
