Subject: Exporting FTM 4.0b to Generations Deluxe - need help
Date: Wed, 02 Jun 1999 12:45:24 -0400
Please contact me privately if you can help. I've been on the help
lines with both FTM and Generations and have found no help. When I
export to Generations, my Notes come up as:
Wifes Notes...
Notes:
@NI003@
instead of my typed notes.
The directions say "If the Gedcom file contains an abundance of
different data fields, you can instruct Easy Tree to simply add
additional unrecognized/unassigned data to the Miscellaneous Notes
Field [which I did] above is how it turns out.
It goes on to say if Easy tree encountered a @123@ they would import all
the data after the initial tag in each line into a reference note. The
Reference Note section is empty.
Here is Generation's reply to my question:
"Although FTM and Generations both adhere to the GEDCOM specification,
the GEDCOM specification itself is open to interpretation.
The way that FTM implements Notes and the way that Generations
implements Notes are not necessarily compatible." then they offered to
give me my money back.
I really want to switch to Generations, but can't do it without my
Notes!!! I assume I'm just not doing something right, but I can't
figure out what that is.
