Dear Kristine,

Two possibilities occur to me as to why you might not have found your
ancestors death certificate. One owing to the fact that he might have died
out of state and the second that he does not show up in the index but there
is a certificate for him. Did you researcher only check the index. It is
time very consuming but checking the actual death certificates might be the
answer when all else fails. The rolls are listed by borough, year and cert.
#. Since you would not have the cert. # you would have to go by year and
borough and according to date search a portion of the roll of film.
Unfortunately they are not in date order but in Certificate order according
to the date they were filed.
