Subject: [NYBROOKLYN] OVERINGTON surname- Can you help?
Date: Mon, 1 Nov 1999 09:01:23 -0600
I recently obtained information stating that our family name OVERIN (G)
was OVERINGTON and it changed to OVERIN (G) sometime between the
Revolutionary War and the Civil War. The family was here before the
Revolutionary War in Manhattan (Bowling Green and Battery Park where
they had Property) and fled to Albany when the British invaded, then came
back to NYC in the 1830's. I was hoping SKS could look up the
databases (1800's & before) in ancestry.com which list the OVERINGTON
name. The name is rare, so there aren't that many.
Thanks,
Cherylyn Overin Woodall
