Subject: [NYBROOKLYN] Brooklyn ward map

Hi,
I'd like to find my family in the various state and federal
censuses from around the 1870s to the latest, 1920, I think, no? I
have been unable to find a guide of any sort to the wards, e.d.s,
a.d.s, etc., except for the 1910 that is linked on the Brooklyn
page. But I have found that Census Microfilm Expeditors
http://www.censusmicrofilm.com/ (476 E. South Temple, Salt Lake
City, Utah 84111 Tel: (888) 436-3256 FAX: (800) 443-0338), is now
offering a film roll that contains ward maps for many cities,
including Brooklyn. The guy I spoke to said he hadn't used them much
but that he thinks that the streets are shown, or at least many
streets are shown.
I think it would be pretty useless to have a map of the wards if
the streets aren't shown, so that you could locate a particular
address. Has anyone seen this film? Does it work well? And if you
have it or have seen it, is it sufficient to have these ward
numbers? Aren't there a.d.s needed for some years, and e.d.s other
times?
I'd really appreciate some imput on this, since I got nowhere
when I requested info on ward maps recently. I want to get going
looking at these censuses, but don't want to have to ask for dozens
of ward, e.d., etc. look ups on the list.
I have no connection at all with the company mentioned above. I
simply noticed that they were now advertising this ward map film.
Hope to hear from someone. Thanks.
Al
