Hmmm...I never thought of this being common in other families. I thought
getting married on January 1 was a quirky family tradition in my family. It
never occurred to me it might be to take advantage of extra time off from
work or chores due to the holiday season; also family was probably together
anyway to celebrate the holidays. Makes sense!
