ANTERO RIIPA

Antero Riipa, editor for 30 years of the Finnish News, a tri-weekly
newspaper published at 4418 Eighth Avenue, Brooklyn, died Thurdsay at
Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, at the age of 83. He resided at 78 Tehama
Street, that borough.

Mr. Riipa was born in Finland and was graduated from the Vaasa College
there. He came to this country in 1893. In 1935, Mr. Riipa was honored by
the Republic of Finland when he received the Order of White Rose, first
class. He ws a member of the Knights of Kaleva, the Aid Society of Imatra
and manager of the Finnish Division of the Common Council for American Unity.

Mr. Riipa is survived by three daughters and a son.
