BROOKLYN MAN DROWNED IN LAKE PLACID

LAKE PLACID, NY, July 1 - Oscar P. NICHOLS, of Brooklyn, superintendent for
Commodore Charles M. MORGAN, of the Lake Placid Yacht Club, was drowned here
yesterday while bathing. William F. DEMOTT, of Madison, NJ, who was boating
with his fiancee, Miss Beryl NORTON, daughter of the Rev. R.F. NORTON,
associate pastor of St. Mark's M.E. Church, of Brooklyn, witnessed the
drowning. He dived overboard and recovered the body.

As NICHOLS was an expert swimmer it is believed he was stricken with apoplexy
while in the water.
