BSU SEPTEMBER 22, 1931 DEATHS

HOLD FUNERAL FOR E. F. DALEY

Funeral services for Edward F. DALEY, 61, of 91-18 173rd street, Jamaica,
former Eastern League baseball star, and a close friend of the famous Willie
KEELER, were held today at Immaculate Conception Monastery, 178th street and

DALEY broke into the Eastern League as a third baseman for the Buffalo team
of 1893. In the following ten years he played with Troy, Rome, Cortland, and
finally Syracuse. It was the latter team that he reached his peak in
professional baseball ranks. He was captain of the team from 1900 to 1903.
In 1903 he held the league record for base hits and stolen bases. He left
Eastern League after that year to play semi-professional ball. One of his
close friends and sponsors was "Wee Willie" KEELER, whom DALLY regarded as
the greatest batsman of all time.

When he passed his prime he became a contractor. He died Saturday of a heart
attack. He is survived by a widow, Alice, and three daughters, Ellen, Alice
and Louise.
