Obituaries
James E. FLYNN died Monday at his home, 101 Prospect street. He was born in
New York City thirty-nine years ago and was a life resident of Brooklyn. He
was employed as a teamster for John W. Masury & Son, Jay and Water streets. He
was a member of the R. C. Church of St. Ann, Front and Gold streets, where
requiem mass will be celebrated at 9 A.M. Friday. He is survived by his widow
Catherine McCOY FLYNN, five daughters, Catherine, Rosemary, Emma, Florence and
Madeline, and three brothers, Henry, Joseph and Francis FLYNN, and a sister,
Mrs. Servasco AGUIRRE. Interment will be at St. Johns Cemetery, under
direction of Doyle & Kenny, 197 Bridge street.
Jane BRENNAN, wife of John BRENNAN, died yesterday at her home, 299 Ainslie
street. She was born in the parish of St. Mary Star of the Sea and had been a
resident of the Eastern District for the past thirty years. She is also
survived by a son, Frank, and two daughters, Genevieve and Mrs. Charles
JEFFREYS. She was a parishioner of the R. C. Church of St. Mary of the
Immaculate Conception, Leonard and Maujer streets, where requiem mass will be
celebrated at 10 A.M. Friday. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery under
direction of William P. Murphy & Son, 87 Herbert street.
Frederick HASSLER died yesterday at his home, 98 Devoe street. He is
survived by three sons, Richard, Frederick and Harry, who is a patrolman
attached to the Forty-eighth Precinct, New York Police Department; four
daughters, Mrs. Vickerton De ANGELUS, Mrs. Joseph CODY, Mrs. John WARNOCK, and
Mrs. James WHEELER, and three sisters, Mrs. A. STUTH, Mrs. T. STEGNER, and
Mrs. E. BLOOM. He was a member of the Maccabees. The funeral will be held at
9:30 A.M. Friday with requiem mass at the R. C. Church of the Visitation.
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of Joseph Redmond, 90
King street.
Estelle ONEILL of 9203 Eighty-eighth avenue, Woodhaven, died Monday. She
was born in Brooklyn April 4, 1891. She is survived by her husband, James, and
five children. The funeral will be held at 10 A.M. tomorrow with requiem mass
at the R. C. Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, Woodhaven. Interment will be at
St. Johns Cemetery under direction of Charles H. Thompson, 8711
Eighty-seventh street, Woodhaven.
[1930 census, 9203 Eighty-eighth, Woodhaven has James ONEILL, widowed, age
39, with children: John, 10; Mary, 8; Dorothy, 6; James, 4; and Estelle, 2.
Uncle John HUGHES, age 75, also lives in the home.]
Joseph STOECKERT died Monday at Hankins, N.Y. He was born in Brooklyn
twenty-two years ago. He was employed by the United Electric Light & Power
Company. He is survived by his parents, George and Barbara STOECKERT, and two
brothers, George and Anthony STOECKERT. He was a member of the Holy Name
Society attached to the R. C. Church of St. Nicholas and the Thirteenth
Assembly District Democratic Club and the National Electric Light Association.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 A. M. tomorrow from his late home, 298 Powers
street, with requiem mass at the R. C. Church of St. Nicholas. Interment will
be at St. Johns Cemetery under direction of Thomas McCormick, 21 Olive
street.
