Auto Mishaps

Seeking outdoor relief from the heat last night, seven children were
injured by automobiles in the borough. Most of the accidents occurred near the
homes of the injured. A young woman was also injured when a taxi in which she
was riding crashed with a private car.

Boy Hurt at Play

Henry WEISSLER, 5, 324 East Fifty-second street, while playing in a
driveway between 314 and 320 East Fifty-second street, was struck by an
automobile driven by David LEADERMAN, of 5207 Church avenue. The boy was taken
to Brownsville and East New York Hospital suffering from internal injuries.

Taxi and Auto Crash

Frances PAPPAMERA, 18, 8142 Bay Sixteenth street, was removed to Coney
Island Hospital suffering a fracture of the left leg and fractured jaw, which
she sustained while riding as a passenger in a taxicab driven by Harry
GOSSITEG, of 256 Berriman street, at Nineteenth avenue and Eighty-first
street. The cab collided with an automobile driven by John MONDA of 418
Sixty-ninth street.

Girl Hit at Crossing

Jane HERMANN, 7, 572 Manhattan avenue, while crossing the roadway at Driggs
avenue near Graham, was struck by an automobile truck driven by Edward KLEIN,
of 196 Middle street. The young girl went home after treatment for abrasions
of the body.

Auto Runs Down Girl

Shirley GORDON, 8, 160 Nelson street, while crossing the street at Lee
avenue near Nelson street, was struck by an automobile driven by Virginia
LARIO of 245 West 104th street, Manhattan. The girl was removed to Beth Moses
Hospital suffering a possible fracture of the skull and lacerations.

Boy is Injured

Charles LANTZ, 11, 2035 East Sixty-fifth street, while crossing the street
in front of his home, was struck by an automobile driven by Lansing LOCKWOOD
of 420 Twenty-first street. He was treated for lacerations and abrasions.

Child’s Skull Fractured

Joseph Di GIACONIO, 9, 549 Eightieth street, while playing in the roadway
on Sixth avenue near Eighty-sixth street, was struck by an automobile driven
by Alfred J. GREEN of 459 Eighty-sixth street. The boy was rushed to Norwegian
Hospital suffering a compound fracture of the skull.

Hurt Playing Ball

Anna O’CONNOR, 6, 130 York street, while playing ball on York street, near
Bridge street, was struck by an automobile driven by John KEATING of
Halseyneck Lave (sic), Southampton, L.I. The child was rushed to Brooklyn
Hospital with a fractured right shoulder and abrasions and lacerations of the
body.

Girl Hit by Car

Rosalie MITCHELL, 4, 2977 West Twenty-third street, was struck by an
automobile while crossing West Twenty-third street near Railroad avenue,
driven by Joseph GILBERT of 1718 Sixty-eighth street. The girl was taken to
Coney Island Hospital suffering a possible fracture of the skull and
lacerations.
