Subject: NYC BIRTH INDEX QUESTION

Hi Everyone,
The following is from an email from a family member. I would like to know
if anyone has any information on what the "S" or "D" distinction might be,
regarding a birth. This is definitely the person we are looking for and she did
use both MacNair and McNair. If I went to the Archives, would I have any
hassle to see the record personally or would the employee tell me that they
would have to look it up and send it to me? TIA

<<<I went through a film called Index of NYC births and found 2 listings
......
Mac Nair, Edith B. 03/31/1903 S
McNair, Edith B. 03/31/1903 D
(The letters mean special and delayed) By e-mailing the church in Salt Lake
City, I discovered that those records were not microfilmed, but that I could
send a request to the Municipal Archives in NYC.>>>
