Dear Lauren,
Thank you for such an interesting and thought-provoking answer to the question about this book. May I probe you a little further on it? Could you perhaps give a taste of chapter titles? If I knew the name of the parish where family members attended Catholic school or were married (which I do), for example, what kind of information would I get about the parish...would it be limited to the clerics or would we get a sort of global picture of the parish as well...maybe such things as ethnic make-up of the neighborhoods?
I apologize in advance if I am being too picky, it is difficult to buy books sight unseen!
Thanks in advance for your help and for calling this to our attention in the first place.
Regards,
Deirdre

I just heard from Joe Coen, Archivist for the Roman Catholic Diocese of
Brooklyn that Diocese of Immigrants: The Brooklyn Catholic Experience,
1853-2003, a history of the Diocese co-authored by Joe and Pat McNamara,
is now on sale through his office. Someone on the list reported earlier
that the book was available in Diocese of Brooklyn parishes for those
living in Brooklyn or Queens. That's true. However, for those of us who
live outside of the Diocese, copies are available through the Office of
the Archives. To order directly from the Archives, send $35 for each
copy (that INCLUDES shipping and handling). Please make your check or
money order payable to "R. C. Diocese of Brooklyn" and send it to:
Office of the Archivist
R. C. Diocese of Brooklyn
310 Prospect Park West
Brooklyn NY 11215
Remember to include your full name and mailing address. And yes,
shipping and handling are included in the $35 price tag. A great
deal!!! If you have any questions, contact Joe at the Diocese of
Brooklyn Archives. His email is:
