This is not true. The birth certificate must be at least 75 years old
to be a public record. The problem is that the certificate is not at the
Municipal Archives it is at the Department of Health. Municipal
Archives costs $6 whereas the Health Department is, I believe, at least $15.
If you order from the Department of Health, write on the form that the
certificate is over 75 years old and that it is being used for
genealogical purposes.
