found in "Batttle of Chickamauga" special edition of
the Civil Wat Times, Illustrated. VIII;2 original
pblisher was Historical Times, Inc Box 1831,
Harrisburg, PA
pg 47 recounts in fairly good detail a story of "a
girl from Willoughby Street, in Brooklyn, who in the
early 1863, when federalarmies were metingg
disaster....she heard the call. her parents
thought her unbalanced.....sent her to an aunt in Ann
Arbor, Michigan...she escaped and enlisted as a
drummer boy in a detroit regiment. finding her way
into Van Cleve's division she was fatally wonded on
sunday Sept 20 at the battle of Chikamauga. she
dictated a letter to her father last line is " give
my old watch to little Eph"
More info is not know about the article except it
may have appeared in "Civil War in Song and Story " by
Frank Moore in 1865.
