Barb,

My guess for "r do" would be residence ditto, in other words, she lived
at the same address where she was a nurse.

I've seen similar things in other directories, and in other types of
records (i.e. the use of "r" to denote residence, and the use of "do" to
denote "ditto", rather than using the more familiar symbol ' " ').
