If you look in the back of the Trow's NY City Directory you will
find a "Street and Address Directory" appendix, and there is usually
a fold out map of Manhattan showing the Wards (unless it was missing
from the copy that was microfilmed.) I have photocopies of the map
and S&A from the 1867 Trow's and the S&A from the 1881 Trow's.
Hoboken St is so short it isn't labeled on the map, but according to
the S&A directory it runs from 476 Washington westward to the North
(Hudson) River. Checking the S&A directory for Washington St,
Hoboken is between Watts and Canal which from the map would place it
in the 5th Ward. There's no indication of EDs on the Trow's maps
(or any map I've seen for the 1870 census - be handy to generate
one using the addresses listed in the 1870 2nd enumeration.)
BTW, you probably ought to check the 1869/1870 directory also; a lot
of folks moved around frequently.
