THe orginal books are at the NY Public Library, rare records divison.
Microfilm is available I think now in the genealogy division. Some kind
soul paid for a copy of the microfilm and donated it to the National
Archives North East division on Varick Street in Manhattan.
Please don't get over hopeful that you will find your relatives.
Althought the records have over 66,000 entries, remember between 1820 and
1920 over 100 million people came to the port of NY. Also with these
books, there are the indexes and the actual ledgers. They do not have
ledgers for every index. Only a few years worth. And yes, if you do find
your relatives, it can be a gold mine.
