Thanks to all who have responded to my plea. As much as I thought I was
familiar with NYC streets (through my research), I stand corrected. Both
locations are in the Bronx. And, thanks to Dennis for reminding me that
the Map Room at >< would be able to help pinpoint the
locations...
As far as suggestions about using the Soundex, some of these ancestors just
don't want to be found. When that happens, the street directory addresses
provide another route to locating them during census years. By locating
the street on a map and then finding the AD/ED information on NARA film,
one can go directly to the location to see if the objects of the search are
still living there...just in case the names weren't soundexed
correctly. Or, as happens in most instances with me, they moved before the
census man arrived at the door!
