The records you want are not at the state dept of health & senior services.
Therefore "genealogical" records are not a consideration. I am not sure if
the state archive records start before 1845 for marriages or not. There
should be a web site for the archives.

Barbara,
Here's what little info I received back in August regarding the availability
of vital records in New Jersey. Births over 80 years, marriages over 50
years, and deaths over 40 years are considered genealogical. Nothing about
how far back the records go or what localities are available. I would write
for the record and see what happens. If they're anything like NYS [not
NYC], it will take several months to obtain a so-called "genealogical" copy.
