Hi Everyone,

I am new to New York City research and new to this list. Could someone
please tell me how to get a copy of a marriage certificate of a couple
married in NYC in 1853?

Would the marriage be in the newspaper?

Frances Margaret Hobbs and John P. Owens were married at the home of
Mrs. Wygant in New York City, October 26, 1853, and then left
immediately for Minnesota. Is there a directory to find out anything
about Mrs. Wygant?
