Is anyone researching the HEMMING family from New York?

I am particularly interested in the family of John and Martha HEMMING (originally from Birmingham England).

Had at least the following children:

James J
William
Caroline.

James followed his father's trade of Umbrella Manufacturer.

In the 1860 directory they were living in Manhattan.
