Subject: [NYC] 1810 census address
Date: Mon, 1 Dec 2003 12:46:52 +0500
In the 1810 census for the FIRST WARD, NYC, there are listed the following names together on page 24:
P.R. Bogardus
Robert Swartout
Mrs. Ten Eyck
Peter Mesier
Widow Gouveneur
Jacob Brower
John Post
>From those names in First Ward NYC, what would the actual address be???
I am looking for my ancestor Jacob Brower b. 1772. By 1810 he has had at least 6 children and should be fairly settled.
His family should consist of: 1 man 38yrs, 1 woman 38 yrs, 1 son 19, 1 son 16, 1son 9, 1 daughter 8, and 1 son 5 yrs.
In the NYC dierectory of that time frame, there are many Jacob Brower listings. Here are a few addresses, hopefully someone may be able to tell me which of these addresses comes closest to a First Ward address, as of 1810:
1. 18 Reed st.
2. Greenwich Rd.
3. 35 Liberty
4. 50 Anne (the actual spelling was Ane)
5. 2 Augustus
6. 13 Partition
I am trying to match name, occupation, and address together using the census and the directory lists.
Any help and advice is appreciated.
If there is anyone researching Peter Mesier listed above, I have some information about him, which I found from several different sources, I would be glad to share it.
Best regards,
Lillian Kathleen Martin
