I have a death cert for my gg grandmother who died Jan. 28, 1932. She was 40 yrs old. Her name was Elizabeth Schmidt. She died at Huntington Hospital. The family rumor was that she died while giving birth to a 3rd child but her death cert. has cause of death as "Ch. Valvular Heart Disease". There is no mention of a child or even that she may have been pregnant with one. Is anyone on the board familier with medicine who can tell me more about this disease? What is the Ch before the Valvular Heart Disease. I have been seaching the internet for this disease but cant find what the ch stands for. Also, in 1932 what kinds of treatment were available for her? Im assuming not many. Thanks.
