There is an organization called Random
Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK)
that has volunteers in all 50 states and
in a number of foreign countries. They
will do lookups, photograph tombstones,
do directory lookups, etc. They do not charge
anything except for costs they incur -- parking
fees, photocopying fees, etc.
In the USA, the volunteers are broken down
by state and county. I have used their
volunteers in New York, Illinois, Indiana,
Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Great group
of people. For Cayuga county, "Misty"
did a prompt and good job of photographing
tombstones for me.
Go to _http://www.raogk.org/before.htm_ (http://www.raogk.org/before.htm) .
After reading the instructions, click on the
box labeled "Let's go find a volunteer!"
Then choose a state. At the state page,
scroll down a bit and choose a county.
Then choose a volunteer who matches
what you'd like to have done.
Again... great people!
