I don't always figure out resources until I "stumble" onto them.
This one has helped me tumble down one brick wall (who knew that Ellen
was a nickname for Allerinna? Not me) and I haven't finished looking yet.
It is a free index for the 1841 through 1891 British Census.
The indexing is in process and there are also contacts listed for
persons wishing to volunteer for each of the counties.
The way I get to it is to google "freecen"+"rootsweb" and it's the top
match.
The indexing for Cornwall is nearly 100% complete for all of the years.
My other areas of interest -Norfolk and Oxford-have very little done but
there is more being add all of the time.
I've found the search method that they have easy to use.
I hope that others have as much luck-and fun-as I have.
Kathy
