The Barker Library Museum houses the Chautauqua County Genealogical Society Collection - which includes extractions from the Fredonia Censor and the Dunkirk Evening Observor
from 1818 through 2000. These are in books. 1818-1899 Fredonia Censor Deaths are in one book and marriages in another. Starting with 1900 deaths, marriages and other genealogical events are in books which cover 5 years each.
The Museum has the Fredonia Censor Newspaper on microfilm so you can access the actual newspaper item.
The Dunkirk Evening Observor is available on microfilm at the SUNY Fredonia Reed Library - just a short distance from Barker Museum. Both Barker Museum and Reed Library have copies of many Directories. Barker Museum is open Tueday thru Saturday from 1 to 4 pm and on Tues and Thurs evenings from 7 -9 pm Reed Library is open from 8 am to 11 pm most weekdays.
Land records are at Mayville in the county courthouse.
School Records, tax records and many other items are among the CCGS collection at Barker Museum.
