Brief Sketch of the Life of the Late Mrs. A.C. Richards.
------------------------

Last week we mentioned the tragic death of MRS. A.C. RICHARDS of Lucas, who was killed in this city by a train on Wednesday evening, March 8, 1905, at 5 o'clock. The funeral services were held from her late home on Friday forenoon at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.B. Pond of Woodburn, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Fry Hill Cemetery.

ALMINA CORDIA ELLSWORTH was born at Stockton, Chautauqua county, N.Y., on April 20, 1831. At the age of five years she was left an orphan and then made her home with her brothers and sisters until her marriage to BENJAMIN W. RICHARDS which occurred at Beloit, Wis., on July 4, 1850. Three children were born to them, only two of whom survive. They are FRANK H. of Lucas, and MRS. IDA BURNS of Indianola who has been seriously ill for some time with nervous prostration and was unable to attend the last sad rites.

In 1856 the family moved to Chariton and resided here until 1859 when they moved to Garden Grove. MR. RICHARDS, the husband and father, died at Lucas on October 23, 1884. Since that time MRS. RICHARDS had resided with her son FRANK and family. When quite young deceased was converted and during the remainder of her life was an active and zealous Christian. She was exceedingly industrious and her kind, helpful nature was ever giving itself out for the good of others. Although her hearing was greatly impaired she could converse readily and her company was sought after by both old and young. Her greatest happiness came in rendering assistance to others and her many deeds of kindness will long be remembered by a host of friends who sincerely mourn her death and who extend heartfelt sympathy to the relatives in their overwhelming affliction.
