There is a photo of Josephs tombstone at the Stockton link
Joseph has been totally "dug up" so to speak; several of us have been working oa the COBB is Chautauqua co for several yrs
Joseph is the son of Abigail Holloway Stephens and Joseph COBB c 1752 d ca 1820 in Tunkannock, Wyoming Co, Pa
son of ASA and Mary FINCH COBB son of
Captain Asa Cobb I, born in the year 1701, is the direct head of the line of Cobbs that he is connected to
Captain Asa Cobb 1, was the captain of a whaler in the year 1766 and the
earliest accounts of him is that in this year, he and his four sons, Asa, Howell, Lovell and Ebin Cobb, sailing along the coast of Newfoundland to New York.
On the trip and when in New York they struck a whale, which got away from them, died and sank. The following morning they discovered it afloat near
they shore, whereupon it was claimed by the Governor as the property of the
king. The Captain was detained at New York, but finally sold his ship, and he
and his four sons went up the Hudson River and settled in Columbia County, New
York. Here the old captain ended his days, and the family separated. Howell
ent to Georgia, Lovel and Eben to the Carolinas. Asa Cobb II settled in Orange County, New York.
No mention has been made of who his wife was, or if she had passed away
before his last trip. It has not yet been found where he was buried in Columbia County New York.

The object of MY search is Joseph COBB born 1804 in NY and died 1860 who well may be a son of Joseph and Charlotte PHELPS COBB of Stockton
we know that ZENAS COBB is a son of Joseph b here and a brother is USUAL COBB who also d in PA he lived in Stockton for a time also
We have a lot of info with varied sources
but far too much to post on this board;
