It's an index. The 336 is the page numer. -- It states at the top of the page it states it is an index to the book, "Allegany County and Its People" by John S. Minard.
on page 336, in the chapter on Wellsville, John HARVEY is mentioned in a story "Hunt for a Lost Man." It states specifically, "At John HARVEY's the nearest house (where Emory COOK now lives), a blanket was procured and rigged to poles."
Other than that, the story does not relate to John Harvey. The date given in the story was 1833, so I assume that John Harvey lived there sometime before 1833, but was gone when the events happened.
