Subject: [NYCOL] Almshouse life and death in Albany
Date: Sun, 20 Jul 2003 20:53:56 GMT
A very interesting, very well written article was published today in the Times
Union newspaper (Albany). We get a bit of a picture of a hard life. We get an
idea of what groups of people lived there. The cemetery was dug up and the
bodies moved to Albany Rural Cemetery, but they were studied before they were
reinterred. Coffins had been stacked five deep in places. $1.7 million was
spent on archeological work. How is it possible to spend that much?
The article is online.

The article will disappear from this list in a week, but the following URL
should find it in the future (I believe). If it appears in two pieces, they
must be joined together (there cannot be a space between).
