Quoting from "History of 18th Century Germantown" by Walter V. Miller:

"These settlements were located about equidistant from one another and along
the river shore, or a short distance inland. The Northernmost was located
not too far from the Half Moon Anchorage in what was later to be known as the
'Snyder's Corners' neighborhood. This area is in the vicinity of Anchorage
Road and Northern Boulevard.

The second was situated within the neighborhood bounded by the residences of
Maple Avenue, Sharp's Landing Road, and Route 9G.

Main Street and 9G marks the location of the third, and the hamlet of
Cheviot is the lineal descendent of the fourth.

These towns, or hamlets, were named Annesbury, Queensbury, Hayesbury, and
Hunterstown. Queensbury is known to have been the settlement near Maple Avenue
and 9G. Cheviot began its existence as Hunterstown. Which of the other two
was Annesbury and which Hayesbury has always been, and still is, largely a
matter of conjecture."
