Renne:
I agree, the county on the plates was/is a real conversation starter. In my
career with the National Park Service,I looked for excuses to engage people
in conversation. I knew a little geography and had traveled some,so I could
usually come up with something to start talking about. With NY and other
plates that did not have that information on them,I used the dealer
address, which many cars have. Yes,that is the same Sleeth. Guess I got my
cars mixed up.I never knew them,as there was a feud going on or they came to
visit and I was too little to remember them.
I also had ancestors in Onondaga Valley,Fabius,Vesper,Tully,Lafayette
etc.The scion of the Newcomb's in the county was Thomas,a Rev. war vet who
lies in the old Taft Cemetery.
