William Warren was the next door neighbor of my wife's ancestor, Isaac
Birdsall. According to The History of Roxbury, William Warren was the
founding pastor of the Old School Baptist Church of Bataviakill (the
western end of the township next to New Kingston). He came to Roxbury, if
my memory serves me right, in 1796 from what was then Fredrickstown,
Dutchess CO. (later Patterson, Putnam Co.). Many of the earliest settlers
of Bataviakill followed William Warren in 1797 as members of his
congregation. I am very interested to know if there are any church records
available for the Old School Baptist Church of Bataviakill.
A John Warren, presumably a relative of William, served as pastor of the
Baptist church in Carmel (I think), Putnam County in the 1820s or so.
