HI Ryan,
You mention Seely; I'd be interested in your connection. My gggrandfather
was Henry Bates Seely, m. to Sarah Augusta Wheeler of Delhi. Henry was born
in 1838 in Seneca Falls, NY. I understand that his grandfather Abijah
emigrated to Seneca Falls from CT prior to 1800, and I'm interested in
finding related Seelys in NY.
Thanks,
Diane Wear

Subject: [NYDELAWA-L] early families of Delaware Co., NY
Hi everyone,
My name is Ryan Wadleigh and I was on this list
previously under a different e-mail address. Anyway,
I thought I'd post my surname interests to the site,
to see if there's any new info out there.
I am looking for information on the following
families:
Winters
Cannon
Brewer
Owen
Kilborn/Kilburn/Kilbourn
Huyck/Houck
Connected surnames are: Smith, St. John, Aldrich,
Phelps, Calvin, Swartout, Underwood, Crawford,
Burrows, Tiffany, Kelsy/Kelsey, Foster, Constable,
Seely, Teed, etc.
If anyone has any information on these families, I'd
like to get in contact with you.
Most of my ancestors were located in Tompkins
Township, in and around the no-longer-existant,
Cannonsville.
What I am most interested in is information on the
Brewer, Cannon and Kilborn surnames.
My ancestor, Olive Kilborn was born on Feb. 19, 1780,
in place unknown. She had come to Delaware County,
New York, with her family in the 1790's. She was
married to John Owen on August 6, 1796 in Walton,
Delaware County. I know a lot on her and her
descendants but absolutely nothing on her family. I
know there were other Kilborns in Delaware County, but
don't know how she is connected. There was a Heman
Kilborn and a William Kilborn that might be connected.
My other interest lies in the Brewer family. My
ancestor, was Maria Brewer, she was born in 1805 in
New York, all I know about her family is that she had
two sisters, one was Eliza Brewer who married Andrew
Smith and another was Kate Brewer who married David
St. John. I know she had a brother, whose name is not
known, and her father's name is Peter Brewer according
to the History of Cannonsville by Mrs. Hester Miles.
She was probably in reality a neice of Peter. Any
information there?
Thanks.
