It's also quite possible that Jane and/or Margaret died between
censuses.

Subject: [NYDELAWA-L] Delaware Query

I am once again requesting that anyone with a connection to Yaple(s) in
and around the Middletown area, please check to see if there is a
possible connection to a Smith and Mary Ann Yaple(s). They were in Andes
census in 1840, listed as both being 20 but not 30, with 1 daughter
under 5, Colchester in 1850, Smith being 35, Mary Ann 30, Jane 13, Wm.
H. 11, Marcus 9, Margaret 5, and Sylvester 1, Andes in 1860 Smith being
42, Mary A. 42, William H. 19, Marcus 17, Margaret 13, Sylvester 10, Ira
7, Amanda 5, and George 1, and then in 1865 showed up in Thurston,
Steuben County, NY, and 1870 in Rathbone, Steuben County, NY. I KNOW
that census ages are not very accurate. Since Jane is listed with the
family in 1850 and not in 1860 I am thinking that she probably got
married in the interim, but I have NO clue as to who she might have
married. The same with Margaret between 1860 and 1865. I believe that
this family HAS to connect to the other Yaple families of the area, but
have had ab! solutely no luck finding Smith's parents, yet. Please
help!!! Betty Yeaples Hites
