If anyone DOES have access to the records of St. Peters would they please
PLEASE check for the death of Sophronia Adams Burrows 9-2-1899 at 8:30
a.m. in Hobart, N.Y., after a long illness at age 54. Her husband
Rev.Thomas Burrows was a minister at St. Peters.
I have a second record that conflicts with this and says she died in 1898
(no other dates given) in Rondout. Ulster Co.
The vita below supports the 1898 date. Her husband was a minister 1893-1896
at St. Peters in Delaware Co.
I would think that since her husband had been a minister, that some sort of
notice of Sophronia Burrows' death would have been mentioned in the
newspapers but was not.
Vita: Thomas Burrows was the Clergy of St. Peter's Church in Hobart, NY from
1893-1896. At Parish Christmas Festival, 1893 at St. Peter's Church in
Hobart. The Rector was Thomas. At a meeting of Wardens and Vestry of St.
Peter's Church, held at the rectory 1-21-1896, Thomas submitted a letter of
resignation to take effect 2-29-1896. He then became a Rector of Church of
Holy Spirit in Rondout,(Kingston) NY.
Incidentally Sophronia's father was Maybee Dingee Adams, nephew of Elder
Dingee Adams of Harpersfield (a Baptist). After Sophronia's father died,
her mother married John Merrill who was born in Delaware Co. NY and moved
eventually to Marion Ohio.

The Mormon Church lists a book " Stamford, Harpersfield & Roxbury, Delaware
County, New York, church records.
It lists records of St Peter's Episcopal Church in the village of Hobart,
town of Stamford. They don't loan out books so I can't order it from them.
Does anybody have access to this book and if so does the St. Peter's records
include records of baptisms and marriages?
I am looking for the Augustus Bates family which the Delaware county
USGenWeb web site list him as belonging to.
Thank You.
