Contact the village or town clerk (depends where she died) and ask them.
Send a self addressed stamped envelope. Give them as much information as
you can for them to do a lookup. I was told by a very wise person to ask
for a death record, instead of a certificate as you will get more
information. If they have a death record it will cost $25.00 to get it,
good ole NYS.

Contact the Sidney Library or the Historical Society for an obit.

Whether there will be a death record or not, depends upon how well Sidney
took records, some towns were really good, others not so good. They really
didn't start doing it consistantly until the late 1890's.

I am looking for an obituary for an Orilla (sic) Wright died
according to my info 4 Feb 1883 in Sidney, Delaware county, NY. She
is buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Would someone know where to look
for an obituary? Is it possible there is a death certificate?
I am not sure when they started in NY
She is my great great grandmother
