Judy,
Funny you should write about this. Just yesterday I found a copy of Albert
Carley's Revolutionary War papers when I was looking for Allen Fox. I
hadn't finished sorting through them yet to see if it helps us in any
way. I was going to write you tonight to see if you wanted copies.
There was an Albert, Jonathan and Joseph Carley of NY. Also, a Jonathan of
MA and a William of VT. They are each about 7 pages long and .pdf
files. I can send them your way if you can take the large files. They are
about 500-700kb each.
Initially, the one for Albert does not state his parents or kids
names. Only his wife, Hannah. There is a letter in the file from Joseph
Covey, stating he is the sister of Hannah, and that she is correct that her
husband, Albert served in the War. Both letters were written in
1838. Other than that, they just state where he served.
Joseph's (b. 1770) application states he is from Schnectady and show a
wife, Angelica ( b. 1771) and four sons, James, married (b. 1799) ,
Girardus (b. 1796), John (b. 1793) and Joseph (1791).
Jonathan's states he was born in Wilton, CT in 1757 with no parents
listed. In 1775 he is in South East Town, Dutchess Co, NY and about 20
years after the war he moved to Sidney, Delaware Co, NY. It doesn't say if
he was ever married or had children. It does say he mentioned a sister,
but doesn't name her.
The one for William states he was born in North Bolton, CT in 1767. So,
maybe he's related to Jonathan above. But, neither one states their
father's name.
Anyway, bits and pieces may help us put these together.
Let me know if you can take the electronic files.
