I think the Walton Reporter is the paper of choice here. Their archives are
located in the library in Walton NY.

There is a hamlet of Colchester (near Walton), and a town of Colchester
(contains Downsville and Shinhopple). If she's buried in Long Flat, I would
bet you're looking for the town of Colchester, so the newspaper you'd be
looking for would be Downsville. But the newspaper there didn't start until
1875.
