A great many of the records were destroyed in a fire at the St. Louis Army
Records Repository. However, many such as WW-I draft registration records
and WW-II enlistment records are available and some states have informations
on dates and places of service for both wars. I believe (not certain) that
most of the Navy and Marine records remain intact. Also not sure of Air
Force records but since the Air Force was a part of the Army until well
after WW-II, I'm guessing most of those were destroyed also.
