Subject: [NYDELAWA] Emmett Decker b. about 1855 NY

I am hoping to find someone familiar with the following Decker family. It's
been a tough one!
I started by trying to locate the parents of Flora E. Decker Wordin b. 1876
in Sullivan Co., NY. She died in 1941 in Orange Co., NY. Her obit indicates
her father's name was Emmett . . . no mother's name.
Her obit indicates she had the following siblings:
Mabel Decker - wife of Thomas Cox of Newark NJ. Birthdate??
Dorothy Decker wife of George Merikle of Sussex Co., NJ. I think she was
born 22 April 1900 and died Nov 1973 from the SSDE.
Melvin Decker of Goshen. I think he was born about 1896.
Eugene Decker d. 1911 Place unknown
Lotta Mae Decker wife of Harry K. Gordon died 1920 Place unknown.
I located an Emit Decker age 55 on the Colchester, Delaware Co., NY 1910
census. This shows this was a second marriage. Age at first marriage was about
20 (I think).
Wife is Carrie age 45 - first marriage. Age at marriage 20. Had 6
children, 4 living.
Melvin son age 16
Dorothy daughter age 8
All born in New York. Emit was a stone cutter in a stone quarry.
Looks by 1920 Emmett and Carrie split, but were not divored. Emmett is in
Forestburg, Sullivan Co. at age 67 - shown as married - but no wife with him.
He was a Stone cutter.
Carrie and Melvin are still in Colchester, Delaware Co. in 1920. she is 56
married (no husband shown), Melvin E. is 25 and Van Dorothy is 19.
I can't find Emmett in 1930.
Carrie is in Middletown, Orange Co. in 1930 shown as either Carrie I. or
Carrie J. age 56 (Hmm) widowed, Melvin E. 34.
What happened to Emmett? Who was his first wife? What happened to Carrie?
Hope someone out there can help me!
Thanks very much.
Karen
