Sally,

First thanks for sending this information so that our community of Delaware
County folks could learn of your loss. Like John, my cousins and I, six in
all, graduated from FCS/DLI many years ago. However John was somewhat older
as I as the last to graduate in 1962.

My family and I live near Raleigh, North Carolina and over the past few
years have assembled a large amount of family history with still more to be
done. I hope you remember some of the areas of Franklin with a degree of
appreciation as I do. Below Franklin is still a short road named Covered
Bridge. The Bridge was removed before I knew the area, but a cousin painted
it years ago and it still hangs in my office, showing snow on the roof
probably something neither of us see often.

We were from Palmer Hill near Meridale, and along with many other
activities of farming Dad and I were beekeepers. When I started FCS, that
fall, I asked the Science Teacher if I could add to the classroom with a
demonstration hive with glass sides that we had built for my Mother, a
teacher in Oneonta. With permission, the bees were busy but I watched the
observers and the kids did watch the hive. Much to my amazement, the
teachers at the end of the day would come by and watch the bees for a long
time.
John and I had traded emails on the family and later on I found some
information on the Wheat family.The pages were part of the Franklin Dairyman
I think and was put into a journal by my great aunt Lena (Bell) Palmer who
lived in Franklin and often returned to converse with friends. I will try
and copy it and send via email if you or someone of the family would like me
to.

Not certain I had ever heard that John helped landscape, mowing the
cemetery. We have something in common as during my high school years, a
friend and I cleaned and mowed the Meredith Hollow cemetery which had been
neglected for many years.

We all lost a friend and relative, feel free to email me at your
