I am seeking information on the MAYS/MAYES/MAIZE family, specifically John MAYES who was born 4-25-1796 in Middletown, Delaware, New York.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

This is all the info I have:

1850 census: Middletown, Delaware, NY
(spelled Mays)
John 50
Elizabeth 50
Catharine 13
John 11
Maria 8
Samuel 6

1870 census: Middletown, Delaware, NY
(spelled Maize)
John 70 (insane)
Elizabeth 70

1880 census: Masonville, Delaware, NY
(spelled Mays) (living with William H. Cuyle, son-in-law)
Elizabeth 75 (widowed)

There have been several spellings that I have come across: Mays, Mayes, Maize. I believe it to be Mayes, since that is on Maria's tombstone.

John Mayes born April 25, 1796
Betsy Mayes born May 15, 1796
John and Betsy married December 24, 1835
Catherine Mayes daughter born October 5, 1836
John Mayes Jr. born March 5, 1838
Maria Mayes born April 23, 1840, Died Feb. 1915
