Dear Bill,

You certainly are in the right county. I am sorry that I do not have
information for you on the Stanyer Family but I can refer you to the Dutchess
County Historical Society at

549 Main Street
Poughkeepsie, New York
P. O. Box 88
Poughkeepsie, NY 12602
(914) 471-1630 Phone
(914) 471-8777 Fax

The society is open Tuesday through Friday
from 10AM to 3PM
appointments are requested.

I live in Dutchess but have not had the need to research in Wappingers thus far.

DCHS may be able to tell you if the Town and/or Village of Wappinger has a Town
Historical Society and who to contact or if DCHS has information in regard to
the Surname you are researching.

You may also want to visit the Dutchess GenWeb Page at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nydutche/
and post a query about your research and check out the other Boards (Wills,
Obits, Deeds etc.) and see if some one may have already posted information that
may help you in research.

Good Luck with your research and if I can be of further assistance feel free to
e-mail me at
or .

Hope this helps. In my researching in the future if I should come across any
tid-bits in regard to the Stanyer name, I will pass them along.
