Crum Elbow is an adaptation of the old Dutch "Crum Eleboeg" meaning crooked
elbow. It was applied to the part of the Hudson River where it makes a
tight turn past steep bluffs at what is currently Hyde Park, Dutchess Co.
where Crum Elbow Creek joins the River. Hyde Park was originally part of
Clinton before 1802. I am searching for info on the family of Ephraim Griswold
m. Martha Smith ~1754, lived in Crum Elbow until 1790 when the family removed
to Ft. Ann, Washington Co., where Ephraim's daughter Mehitable married
my direct ancestor, Darius Clement, 1791. Any hints?
