Hi Diane... Sorry for the late reply. Got involved with family stuff
over the past few days... Yes, it seems a real possibility that we
could be related with all those names in common. I really don't know a
whole lot about the Canfield's. Haven't been able to find a thing about
James Canfield who married my great grandaunt, Jane Bunnell probably ca
1840-45. All I know is that they were living in either Stanfordville or
Town of Washington (can't remember which - have to check) according to
her brother George Bunnell's 1855 Probate... As for the Robinson's, I
know they were wealthy, and Chappell Robinson, who married Mary Bunnell,
lived in the Stanfordville area and was a highly respected member of the
community... My ggrandfather, William Jackson Bunnell (George's younger
brother), b 1826 in Town of Stanford, left Dutchess County ca 1845 and
went to NYC where he married Jane Eliza Holmes in 1848. They lived in
Williamsburgh, Kings Co., NY for a number of years; after Jane died in
1866, William remarried and settled in Jersey City in Hudson Co. NJ. He
died in 1891... As far as I know he was the only member of his immediate
family to leave DC.
I will keep your note Diane and if I find anything further on any of
these families, I will let you know. Please keep me updated on the
Canfield's. I am very interested to know if Alice is somehow related...
Jackie
